In clinical practice developed within five years of activities of our Center, we verified that the young people aged from 14 to 25 that came to us, were presenting situations of severe hardship and suffering not attributable to psychotic disorders. Just in relation to their age, all have a compromised social functioning, characterized by the interruption of the studies, emotional closure to the outside world, rejection of relations with peers. Clinical and psychological evaluation directed us to affective spectrum disorders, severe anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and personality disorders. The severity of the presented symptom setups and the risk of a rapid worsening of cognitive and social impairments led us to open at the early stages of our work a Center for these young people, in the belief that only a dedicated Center would give them effective answers.
